A Quiet Heart

 In Blog, Pam Cavanaugh

I keep a devotional book by Elizabeth Elliot close by.  The title is Keep a Quiet Heart.  I picked it up and was reminded how hard that is to do in our day.  Everywhere you go there are so many things clamoring for attention.  I often say we are a society of noise.  Grocery stores have TVs everywhere trying to get our attention.  Then there is the noise of trying to get so much accomplished: home, children, jobs, etc. all screaming at us.  I have been very busy preparing and working on our ministry conference which is coming up in two weeks.  Sometimes our busyness and the noise of our lives around us keeps us from just keeping a quiet heart.  Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”  I am convinced that the evil one would have us not be still, because we would be thinking more upon spiritual things and exalting The Lord.  I have chosen for my blog today to leave you with some simple truths and quotes.  May they cause you to stop and think; be inspired and help you “keep a quiet heart”.

“Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.”- Matthew. 6:9

“We shall find it sweet to go up the bleak side of the hill with Christ; and when rain and snow blow into our faces, His dear love will make us far more blest than those that sit at home and warm their hands at the world’s fire.” – Charles Spurgeon

Ahhh…..A quiet heart; that’s the place I want to be.
